Presentation
Dizziness and loss of balance are two of the most frequent reasons for seeking medical and physical therapy consultations. Due to their multifactorial origins, the diagnosis and management of patients with dizziness is not always straightforward. In recent decades, advances in the understanding, evaluation, and treatment of vestibular disorders have led to the need for specialists in this area.
Vestibular rehabilitation is one of the most important therapeutic modalities for managing patients with dizziness, vertigo, and acute and chronic instability. It consists of a set of techniques and physical maneuvers based on scientific evidence to restore the normal functioning of the damaged balance system. The course follows the guidelines of the International Guide for Education in Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy of the Barany Society and aims to train specialists in the evaluation, physical therapy diagnosis, and rehabilitation of disorders of the vestibular system and balance apparatus.
Objectives
- To provide tools for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of vestibular dysfunctions and balance disorders.
- To provide knowledge of the complementary studies of the system
- To teach the correct use of maneuvers and exercises in the rehabilitation process

- Have advanced knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the system
- Knowing how to perform a proper medical history of the patient with dizziness and disorders of
- To understand the different pathologies associated with dizziness, vertigo, and disorders of the respiratory system
- To be able to perform a clinical examination of the patient with
- To distinguish between central and peripheral vestibular pathologies.
- Knowing how to interpret the different complementary studies of the apparatus
- Knowing how to perform diagnostic maneuvers, evaluate pathological nystagmus and perform repositioning maneuvers for the different variants of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.
- To carry out a dynamic and progressive rehabilitation based on scientific evidence.
