The Doctorate in Engineering comprises 400 hours of courses (40 credits) that are taken during the cycles: training (200 hours) and specialization (200 hours) of the same. The training cycle, which includes the compulsory subjects common to all the orientations and at least one course in accordance with the chosen orientation, includes the following areas of work:

• Teleinformatics and Telecommunications
• Electronics
• Computer Technology
• Industrial
• Bioengineering

The free-choice subjects that make up the other half of the course make up the specialization cycle.

• Compulsory Subjects: they are common to all doctoral students and include: Applied Mathematics; Numerical Methods and Research Methodology.
• Compulsory Subjects for each line of work: A subject must be chosen from the options available for each of the major suggested topics.
• Free Choice Subjects: they comprise the specialization cycle and are chosen by mutual agreement between the doctoral student and his/her Thesis Director. The proposed plan must be approved by the Academic Scientific Committee. Free-choice subjects may be chosen from the School's doctoral course offerings or taken at other Universities. Among the free-choice subjects may be counted the obligatory ones of other orientations.
