July 9: Academic Reflection and Commitment on Independence Day
We celebrate our history, we honor our freedom, we build our future.

On July 9, 1816, the Congress of Tucumán proclaimed the existence of a free and independent nation, liberated from colonial ties. This date not only represents the culmination of an emancipatory process, but also the birth of a collective responsibility that is renewed each year in our institutions.

For Universidad de Mendoza, celebrating independence means reflecting on the role of higher education in building national sovereignty. A people's true freedom is consolidated through knowledge, critical thinking, and scientific development. Every classroom, laboratory, and forum for debate at our university is an engine for the progress and autonomy of our society.

On this new anniversary of our nation's independence, the academic community—comprised of authorities, faculty, researchers, alumni, and students—reaffirms its ethical commitment to training professionals capable of transforming reality with integrity and excellence. Inspired by the values of the delegates to the 1816 Congress, we embrace the current challenge of breaking the chains of misinformation and inequality through outreach, research, and high-quality teaching.

Let us honor our past by building with effort the future of a more just, supportive and sovereign Argentina.

Happy Independence Day!
