We are pleased to announce the opening of the Call for Categorization, Recategorization and Tenure of UM Research Professors | 2025.
The purpose of this call for proposals is evaluate and categorize to the teachers of the Universidad de Mendoza who conduct research activities and wish to apply voluntarily. Categories will be assigned based on the background, achievements, and career paths of each research professor.
This call is made within the framework of the Research Directorate of the Universidad de Mendoza (IUM).
The call for applications includes the following processes:
- Categorization (First Entry)
Teaching researchers who want to begin a career in research For the first time at our university. It is the process that UM faculty members who express an interest in research and who, given their background, aspire to obtain recognition for their work and thus enable their participation in calls for institutional projects must voluntarily initiate.
- Recategorization
UM researchers who have accumulated background information for aspire to a new category Recategorization is for those researchers who are active and already part of the UM scientific community whose work has been substantially and qualitatively increased. Submission in this process is for those who aspire to improve the pre-existing category.
- Permanence
in this calling must be presented, in the appropriate category, exclusively those teachers whose only or last categorization process was prior to 2020Unless participation in the recategorization process is initiated in this call, it will be a condition for maintaining the achieved category after four years in future calls.
Requirements and basic considerations for participating in the process
- Be a UM professor (regular, interim, contracted or emeritus).
- To hold a position (Head Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Assistant Professor in Charge, Teaching Assistant JTP, Teaching Assistant ACD)
- Seniority of 2 (two) continuous years in the position
- Having a background in research
Instruments for the evaluation process
- CVar: Validated document for data upload. It must be completed as the main instrument to account for the research work.
- Information Form Categorization: the form containing general, identifying, institutional affiliation data and the category to which one aspires, etc., is available on the website and is mandatory to complete.
- Backup file: You are asked to create an attached PDF document with the evidence for the main items that account for the research of the last 4 years.
About the CVar
Previously, the UM academic community interested in participating in research was invited to complete their CVar, a document required for the categorization process. It is important for UM Research Faculty to keep their CVar updated, and for those who do not yet have one, to begin completing it. Instructions to facilitate this task are available on the website.
About the Information Form
It is of particular interest for the evaluation process to complete this form, which contains basic institutional information to reference your affiliation, teaching status, and expectations regarding the process. By verifying your own background against the requirements for each category, you will be the one to define the category you aspire to, a situation that the evaluation will be able to confirm or determine based on the information provided. Please remember that your work from the last four years will be evaluated.

The preparation of this document involves detailing the applicant's main background in teaching positions, postgraduate studies, continuing education, research itself, research management, and outreach and/or knowledge transfer related to the research projects presented, in the order proposed by the CVar platform as a continuous PDF.
