Open call for the training-action program: “Young Volunteers for Peace – Online6th International Cohort (2026)”
Universidad de Mendoza We are calling for students aged 17 to 29 to participate in the "Youth Volunteers for Peace 2026" training and action program. It will be a six-month blended learning program (online and in-person). Apply before April 7th.

The training-action program "Young University Volunteers for Peace - Online6th International Cohort" is coordinated by the Peace Area of ​​the University Institute in Democracy, Peace and Security of the UNAH (IUDPAS-UNAH) and has the collaboration of professors-researchers from different faculties, academic units, master's programs and research groups in Latin America linked to the Latin American Council for Peace Research (CLAIP).

From Universidad de Mendoza, we call students between 17 and 29 years old, enrolled in any degree course from each of the Schools and all UM campuses to apply to the training-action program: Young Volunteers for Peace.

Before submitting your application, make sure you organize your schedule and allow enough time to successfully participate in the program.

  1. Presentation

The training-action program "Young University Volunteers for Peace - Online6th International Cohort" is coordinated by the Peace Area of ​​the University Institute in Democracy, Peace and Security of the UNAH (IUDPAS-UNAH) and has the collaboration of professors-researchers from different faculties, academic units, master's programs and research groups in Latin America linked to the Latin American Council for Peace Research (CLAIP).

Important General Information:

✓ Name of the training process: Young University Volunteers for Peace, Online International, cohort 6

 Execution Period of the training-action process6 months with a total of 26 hours of instruction in synchronous ONLINE workshops, and a minimum of 48 hours in IN-PERSON group sessions in each country, both of which are MANDATORY. For the successful development of the program It is considered necessary that participants organize their personal agenda to ensure their participation in workshops and group sessions, as well as to dedicate at least 3 hours per week to design and planning tasks necessary for the development of tasks related to the course, especially from June 2026 onwards.

✓ Synchronous session day and schedule: The workshops and synchronous work sessions will take place on the 6thERNNES starting at 1:00 pm Honduras time in ONLINE format. The group sessions for the implementation of the Action for Peace will be designed and provided with content by each working team in FACE-TO-FACE format.

✓ Place of execution of the training-action process: 100% online training workshops and working sessions. Group sessions for the development of Action for Peace, in person.

✓ Proof of Participation will be delivered once the requirements have been met, issued by the Peace Area of ​​the University Institute for Democracy, Peace and Security of the UNAH and the Latin American Peace Research Council (CLAIP).

✓ Responsible entity: Peace Area of ​​the University Institute of Democracy, Peace and Security (IUDPAS) of the UNAH.

  1. Objectives

2.1 General objective

To train young students as peace promoters with theoretical and practical knowledge that enables them to contribute to the advancement of transformative peacebuilding processes.

2.2 Specific objectives

  • Provide the conceptual framework necessary to assess the social, political, and economic impact of the different theoretical and methodological approaches to the discipline of Peace and Conflict Studies.
  • To encourage the development of a second, thinking-feeling reflexivity regarding violent attitudes and behaviors, stimulating the emergence of an active, committed, empathetic, and proactive attitude toward personal and social transformation.
  • To strengthen the planning and implementation of a Latin American peace action that embraces the fundamental principles of Transformative Peace.
  • Provide the conceptual framework and awareness necessary for the development of attitudes and behaviors that promote social justice and gender equity.
  • Provide the conceptual framework and basic tools for the design of spaces for training and reflection on peace.
  • To foster self-awareness of emotions, feelings, and potential crisis situations through personal introspection, empathetic listening, and collective reflective thinking and feeling. To promote dialogue and critical reflection on violence and social, political, and economic problems affecting the Latin American continent.
  • Encourage participation in and promotion of social networks and organizations for building peaceful coexistence and conflict transformation.
  1. Pedagogical components

The Training-Action process includes both the development of a curriculum oriented towards the collective construction of knowledge around topics related to the discipline of Peace and Conflict Studies (PEACE TRAINING), as a process of Collective Action for Peace (ACTION FOR PEACE).

3.1 Training for Peace

The planned contents of the pedagogical component “peace training” will be taught through 100% ONLINE workshops and work sessions conducted synchronously via the ZOOM platform. The development of these will allow for the correct learning of the different contents and will promote appropriate feeling-thinking reflection.

In this component the following will be taken:

  • 10 workshops of 2 hours each These workshops, lasting [duration missing], will be led by the international team of professors and researchers from the Academic Committee and the team of facilitators who are graduates of previous cohorts of the program. They will utilize participatory dynamics and reflective techniques.
  • 3 workdays of 2 hours each duration that includes an Opening day, a closing day and a day dedicated to the presentation of the Action for Peace planning designed in each working team per country.

Attendance and participation in each workshop and work session is mandatory to obtain a certificate of participation.

3.2 Action for Peace

The "Action for Peace" training component will be delivered in person through the formation of work teams comprised of the volunteers who make up the program cohort, as well as teachers and facilitators from each country.

Each team will design, plan, and implement an "Action for Peace," consisting of developing an initiative following the methodology and guidelines that will be detailed throughout the workshops and working sessions. This action for peace is part of the Latin American movement for a New Normal (http://unanuevanormalidad.org).

Active and purposeful participation in team meetings for the design, planning and implementation of group sessions is essential to obtain proof of participation.
