La Universidad de Mendoza through its School of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design celebrates World Urban Planning Day. Celebration that unites more than 30 countries that recognize and promote the essential role of planning in the creation and management of sustainable urban communities.

The date began in 1949 at the request of the Higher Institute of Urbanism of the City of Buenos Aires through an initiative of the renowned Argentine urban planner Carlos María Della Paolera. This celebration was quickly imitated internationally with the purpose of safeguarding and protecting the public and professional interests of city planning. The initiative consists of creating awareness of living in healthy and pleasant environments with green spaces closer to nature.
