From the Extension and Liaison of the School of Law and Social Sciences (UM), we are pleased to invite you to the conversation “Institutional Dialogue on Amicus Curiae: Academic and Judicial Perspective”, which will take place on 8 October 2025 Wednesday, from 6 p.m to 00 p.m., in the Aula Magna “Dr. Emilio Descotte” of the FCJS, under hybrid modality.

The meeting aims to reflect on the figure of the amicus curiae, drawing on the experience of those who have participated in such presentations at provincial, national, and regional levels. The event will be organized as a discussion, with brief interventions by the presenters, in order to foster exchanges with UM students and faculty.

On this occasion, among other experiences, the Chair of Environmental Law (Water Law) of our School, the only academic unit in the province admitted by the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation , the amicus curiae in the case initiated by the Province of La Pampa regarding the use of the waters of the Atuel River.

UM professors and researchers will participate, as well as special guests, including Miguel Mathus Escorihuela, Nicolás González del Soler, Liber Martín, Valentina Erice, Facundo Díaz Araujo, Guillermo Hernández, Alejandro Pérez Hualde, María Candela Ferrari, Roxana Álamo, Daniela Favier and Cristina Alé.

For closing of the conversation, we will have the special participation of the Professor Lorena González Tocci (UBA/ UdeSA), a renowned jurist who has participated on numerous occasions as amicus curiae before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
