On June 10, 11, and 12, Dr. Cristián Quintero—professor at the School of Medical Sciences and director of the Institute of Biomedical Research (INBIOMED)—participated in the 30th COPXNUMX Fluminense Symposium on Environmental Sciences, held in Vassouras, Brazil. The event brought together specialists, government representatives, the private sector, and the scientific community to discuss proposals to address the climate crisis.
The symposium took place at the General Sombra Convention Center and focused on innovation and implementation of Nature-Based Solutions as a key strategy for mitigating the effects of climate change. Over the course of three intense days, experiences and knowledge were shared among representatives from academia, businesses, and local governments, concluding with the reading of the "Vassouras Letter - COP30 Fluminense."
It is worth noting that Dr. Quintero was the only Argentine researcher present, representing the Universidad de Mendoza and Juan Agustín Maza University, and participated alongside prestigious institutions such as Univassouras, UERJ, UFRRJ, USP, among many others.
Their presence underscores the importance of regional scientific work on environmental issues and the value of building bridges between South American countries in the shared fight against climate change.
