Generating idea to build social emergency modules

It is an initiative that arises from the integration generated by the Municipality of Rivadavia and the UM in different instances of institutional cooperation.

Authorities of the University and the School of Architecture Urbanism and design received the Mayor of the Rivadavia Department and his entourage to jointly evaluate the project of housing emergency modules for the aforementioned departmental commune of the province of Mendoza.

The activity is proposed as a research product of the FAUD Social Housing Institute and its objective is to provide a solution to people in a housing emergency situation.

Authors of this proposal said that the idea is to promote the self-sustainable construction of housing units with various materials combined with natural elements, such as grapevines and various fruit trees. In addition, it is important to clarify that the houses would be built through cooperative work.

The Dean of the FAUD, Arch. Javier Sánchez, in the first person, said that "This undertaking will also receive strong assistance from the faculties of Health Sciences, Economic Sciences and Law and Social Sciences of our Universidad de Mendoza".

By means of a Framework Agreement, both institutions have developed various projects together, such as: The re-functionalization of the Central Park of Rivadavia and the former Gargantini winery, historical heritage of the commune. 

Under strict sanitary protocol they received the Mayor of Rivadavia, Miguel Ronco, and the director of Public Works of the municipality, Arch. Ivana Luján, the rector of the Universidad de Mendoza, Dr. Eduardo Luna and the Vice Chancellor Eduardo Salomón. Also present at this meeting were the dean of the FAUD, Javier Sánchez, the vice-dean Sebastián Serrani, the administrative secretary Arq. Rodolfo Gioa, the director of the Design Degree Courses of the FAUD, Lic. Josefina Foti and the director of the Institute of Social Housing and Habitat of the FAUD, Arch. Fernanda Acosta.
