On June 4 and 5, 2026, the Universidad de Mendoza actively participated in the 1st Extension Meeting of the Andean Network of Universities (RADU) and in the 5th RADU Researchers Meeting, carried out at the La Rioja campus of the Barceló Foundation – Instituto Universitario de Ciencias de la Salud – School of Medicine. The event brought together universities from the region with the purpose of strengthening the exchange of experiences, promoting collaborative work and generating spaces for articulation between research, extension and territory.
The procession of the Universidad de Mendoza It was headed by the Vice-Rector Dr. Arch. Alejandra Sella accompanied by the Director of Dieri, Arch. Agustina Mercado Muros, the Coordinator of University Social Responsibility, Lic. Graciela Jalaf, and Lic. Florencia Pucheta, professional of the University Life Area, who represented the axis of Inner Wellbeing.
In the field of research, Dr. Alejandra Sella participated as moderator of the thematic panel on Technology, Engineering and ArchitectureLikewise, research professors from our institution presented their work online, reaching a total of 18 research projects distributed across three of the proposed thematic areas, reflecting the institutional commitment to the generation and transfer of knowledge.
For its part, participation in university extension was developed exclusively in face-to-face mode and included three presentations representative of different management areas of the Universidad de Mendoza:
- Architect Agustina Mercado Muros: “An extension management experience focused on people and collaborative teamwork”.
- Graciela Jalaf, Esq.: “University students with a purpose: UM Volunteering”.
- Florencia Pucheta, M.A. “Living at the University: support and well-being”.
The presentations allowed for the sharing of institutional experiences related to university social responsibility, the well-being of the educational community, the curricularization of extension, sustainability, and the construction of interdisciplinary work networks, contributing to the strengthening of extension as a substantive function of higher education.

We also acknowledge the valuable work carried out in conjunction with the universities that make up the Andean University Network (RADU).
About RADU
The Andean Network of Universities (RADU) is an association of private higher education institutions in the Nuevo Cuyo region, comprised of the Universidad Católica de Cuyo (San Juan, Mendoza and San Luis campuses), the Juan Agustín Maza University, the Universidad de Mendoza, the Universidad del Aconcagua and the Instituto Universitario de Ciencias de la Salud Barceló Foundation (La Rioja campus).
The network was established on August 3, 2005 with the aim of strengthening academic and scientific cooperation among its member institutions.
Currently, the RADU Board of Directors is chaired by Professor Daniel Miranda, Rector of the Juan Agustín Maza University and member of the Board of Directors of the Council of Rectors of Private Universities (CRUP). Other members of this body include María Laura Simonassi (UCCuyo), Alfredo Iglesias (UM), Axel Barceló (IUCS Barceló), and Rolando Galli Rey (UDA).
The Academic Advisory Council is comprised of Beatriz Farah (UCCuyo), Amalia Salafia (UMaza), María José Reina (UM), Marité Gibbs (UDA), and Valeria Altieri (IUCS Barceló). Currently, Amalia Salafia serves as the Network's Executive Secretary.
