Universidad de Mendoza (UM), through its Transparency and Integrity Laboratory (LabTIUM), announces the fourth edition of its Conversational Forum, a space for cross-sector reflection that has established itself as a benchmark in promoting ethical values. After focusing in previous editions on ethics in the public and private sectors, this year's focus is on the heart of university education: "Ethics in the academic sector: a look from the essence of the human being to what professional duty should be."
This initiative is promoted by the Directorate of Extension and Institutional Relations (DiERI) of the Universidad de Mendoza, under the direction of Architect Agustina Mercado Muros, and LabTIUM, part of DiERI and coordinated by Dr. Virginia Coraglia Papailiou. These departments worked alongside all academic units to plan this event, ensuring that the theme of transparency and integrity is a cross-cutting theme throughout university life and the training of its professionals.
The program content for the 4th Conversation will be led by the team of professors from the UM ethics departments, who will serve as the main speakers and facilitators of the dialogue.
The central objective of this event is to reflect on ethics as the foundation of university education and professional practice, addressing its human, moral, and social dimensions. In this way, academia is recognized as the key player in laying the moral foundations for professional development.
Thus, UM once again positions itself as a benchmark of excellence in the teaching of ethical values, integrity, and compliance at the regional level, creating a space for empowerment that transcends the classroom. The main objectives of this event are to instill ethical commitment, morality, and the consolidation of values in the professional field, ensuring that higher education is synonymous with rigor and civic responsibility in all disciplines.
This discussion is particularly relevant for professors and students of all degree courses (both at the UM and other universities), as the topics covered are not exclusive to one discipline but rather offer the necessary tools for contemporary professionals to act with social responsibility, integrity, and moral rigor in the face of complex dilemmas that cut across all areas of knowledge and practice. By reflecting on being (the human essence) and ought (professional conduct), the event provides a fundamental roadmap for professional life.
The social impact of this initiative is direct: by training professionals and teachers who understand and apply ethics in a rigorous manner, the Universidad de Mendoza It contributes to strengthening the civic framework, acting as a fundamental pillar in the fight against corruption and an active promoter of the culture of transparency and good governance in all areas of Mendoza and national society.
