Admission requirement

In order to access PhD studies, applicants must have a Lawyer's degree or a Notary Public whose obtaining is derived from a Curriculum of no less than four (4) years in duration, issued by authorized state or private Argentine Universities. by the Ministry of Culture and Education of the Nation, or title granted by foreign Universities, certified with the apostille of The Hague, in the corresponding cases.

Selection process

The selection process begins when the duly completed and signed registration form is submitted, within the deadlines established by the School and accompanied by the required documentation detailed below:

• photocopy of the front and back of the DNI
• photocopy of the front and back of the title of Lawyer or Notary Public certified by the Institution that granted it. If the title is in process, you must present an original certificate of such circumstance granted by the corresponding School, and must accompany the photocopy of the title as indicated as soon as you have it.
• photocopy of the final Analytical Certificate of the degree course.
• Curriculum Vitae updated and signed, detailing research background (scientific publications, attendance at conferences, postgraduate courses, conferences, etc.); educational background and command of a foreign language. The proofs are not necessary, except for a photocopy of the postgraduate qualifications (Specialist/Master's/Doctor).
• In the case of foreign applicants, they must present a certificate of functional command of the Spanish language, when applicable.
• In the event that the applicant wants to request a fee reduction or scholarship, they must do so in the registration application and accompany the reliable documentation that supports their request.

In the event that the applicant does not reside in the City of Mendoza, they may send the scanned application together with the documentation. The originals of the required documentation must be submitted prior to enrollment, if admitted.

Structure

The PhD degree course is structured in two cycles.

• The first Cycle is for training and its purpose is for doctoral students to deepen their general and specific knowledge of the corresponding research area and perfect the theoretical, methodological and technical guidelines for the preparation of the Doctoral Thesis.
• The second cycle is personalized and is intended for the elaboration of the Doctoral Thesis in which the ability of the doctoral student to evaluate for himself the situation of legislation, doctrine and jurisprudence in a certain field of knowledge must be highlighted. right and make an original contribution or formulate a proposal regarding the phenomenon under study.

The First Cycle is integrated with three (3) theoretical-practical subjects and two (2) seminars. Included in this first cycle are studies on Epistemology and Legal Research Methodology, ending with the Doctoral Thesis Workshop.

SECOND CYCLE: PERSONALIZED PHASE

Preparation of the Doctoral Thesis

Duration

Permanence requirements. Doctoral students to remain in the Second Cycle must:

1. a) Comply with the obligations established by the Thesis Director.
2. b) Present a Thesis progress report every six months in accordance with the schedule approved in the Project. The report is deposited in the Postgraduate Directorate with the signature of the doctoral student and with the endorsement of the Director. Doctoral students will have the assistance of tutor professors during each academic cycle in order to accompany them in the writing stage of the Thesis, in accordance with the Regulations that regulate the Support System for postgraduate students.
3. c) Attend the annual meeting organized by the Postgraduate Directorate, where they will present the progress of their work plan.
4. d) Pay an annual registration fee with the amount set by the corresponding authorities, from the year following the year they completed the course and until they deposit their Doctoral Thesis in the Postgraduate Secretariat. In the event that extensions are allowed for the presentation of the Doctoral Thesis, the doctoral student must register each year until it is deposited.

Duty

The Doctorate Degree Course is charged for the purpose of guaranteeing the financing of its activities. The amounts of said contributions will be approved by the Honorable Superior Council of the Universidad de Mendoza, or the Rector's Office, where appropriate, at the proposal of the Dean's Office. Contact the Postgraduate Department to request detailed information on the corresponding cycle.

The tariff obligations of the doctoral students with the School run from the moment of registration and only cease when they complete their degree course or when they abandon their studies. If they decide to drop out of the degree course, they must notify the Graduate Department by means of a note stating their decision. Otherwise, they will continue to be students with the consequent charge of the fees that accrue from then on and until the date on which they have effectively communicated their resignation.

Scholarships

Universidad de Mendoza recognizes the following types of scholarships:

• From an Institution to one or several students. Applicants may request financial support from an institution that will be considered "SPONSOR". The payment commitment will be between the student and the institution, and, in the event that the latter does not comply with the payment obligations, the student will assume the payment of the debt and the readjustments that it may have.
• From one institution to the Universidad de Mendoza. If an institution is interested in having its staff carry out the Doctorate, they may sign an Agreement by which they assume the commitment to take charge of the corresponding fee and readjustment. In these cases, tariff reductions may be granted depending on the number of applicants they incorporate.
• From Universidad de Mendoza to their teachers. Universidad de Mendoza, within the framework of its policy of improving the teaching staff of the Schools that integrate it, grants 50% scholarships to the members of its undergraduate and postgraduate teaching staff to carry out the Doctorate.
• From Universidad de Mendoza to their graduates. Universidad de Mendoza may grant a 25% scholarship to its undergraduate and postgraduate graduates who want to pursue a PhD.
• From Universidad de Mendoza to anyone who has economic impossibility or other special circumstances. The degree course can grant scholarships to its students according to budgetary possibilities. The number of scholarships cannot exceed 10% of the total number of enrollees. These scholarships are qualified in two categories: with and without provision of services. In the first case, the beneficiary must comply with the tasks assigned by the Graduate Department.

 Requirements to obtain the degree. To obtain the degree and title of Doctor in Law and Social Sciences, the following is required:

1. a) Accredit 75% attendance to classes and pass all the subjects and activities provided for in the Training Cycle.
2. b) Admission by the Honorable Council of the Faculty of the Thesis Project in which the topic and the proposed Director are approved.
3. c) Approve the Doctoral Thesis in the act of oral and public defense.
4. d) Have completed payment of registration and fees. S
5. e) Submit a personal note requesting the issuance of the title and accompany the proof of payment of the title.
