– Online English for Lawyers program

The Program is designed to introduce foreign practitioners and/or law students to legal English and the U.S. legal system.


Spring Semester 2021: February 27 – March 14, 2021
Registration OPEN UNTIL February 17

Summer Semester 2021: June 12 – June 27, 2021
Registration will open on March 15

The Program includes six online meetings and many offline assignments. Through lectures, written assignments, and in-class listening and speaking exercises, participants whose native language is not English will practice a variety of skills, ranging from legal reading and writing strategies to advocacy skills. Lectures will focus on U.S. legal culture and the U.S. judicial system with a focus on legal terminology and pragmatics that will expose students to customs and conventions around lawyering, legal training, and the legal profession in the United States.

Our digital classrooms will allow for face-to-face collaboration with classmates and lecturers in real-time, using a variety of features including small group breakout rooms and live chats. In addition, you will complete self-paced, engaging coursework that you can access 24/7 on our convenient online platform.

TOEFL is not required.

Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance upon successful completion of the English for Lawyers course. The cost is $1,950 and the due date for applications is February 17.
